...a quick update of photos

Dear Augosto.

It's been a while since I posted and so I am jumping on really quickly because I wanted to post some pics of you.

I took this one while you were hiding under the dining room table.

This is a picture of you looking for dogs. From time to time, you can spot a few when they play in their backyards.

This is you after you woke up from a nap.

I promise that my next post will actually have more words.

Love you.

DAD.

Getting Down como el James Brown

Dear Augosto.

A few days ago, I came home and saw something so hilarious I just fell on the floor laughing.

What was it? You dancing like the Augosto I know.

Although, I am quite excited about the fact that you love to move and shake when you hear music, it is still kind of funny to me...and your mom too. :)

Maybe others might not find it funny but they can't say it isn't entertaining.

See for yourself.

Sleep well, boy.

It's gettting warmer outside and I can't wait to take you out for long walks.

Love.

Dad.

adding to the collection...

Dear Augosto.

Yesterday was a historic day. We opened the Augosto Rene Lopez Rios wing of the Rios Library collection.

Although it sounds grand(which it is), this mostly entailed us moving all of our DVDs and even older books to a higher shelf in order to dedicate a space on a lower shelf for your collection.

The books in your collection are quite diverse. You have titles such as Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown, Curious George and Jorge el curioso by H. A. Rey, Donde Viven Los Monstruos by Maurice Sendak, a couple books by Shel Silverstein and tons of Dr. Seuss books.

Your current favorite book is The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss. You love that book so much that there have been times where you would have one of us read it, and before it is over you flip to the beginning.

Your current love for books reminds me of my favorite book. Pickle Chiffon Pie.

I can't really remember too much about the book. I think there was a dog in it. But I do remember that I loved reading it over and over. I checked it out from the school library and would get in trouble because I didn't want to return the book.

All in all, I hope you continue to enjoy reading as much as I enjoy reading to you.

Also, I have no doubt that the Augosto wing of the library will grow as you grow.

Have a great day.

Love.

Dad.

PS. After your all day reading session, we had to dress you up for the big game.

new words & signs and a some music...

Dear Augosto.

Soooooooooooo many things to share. So many.

Yesterday, you said your third word. I have doubts that you will guess what it is.

Know what it is?

"Off."

As in, "Augosto, would you like the light on or off?"

Actually, you said it, because your mom was undressing you. Each time she removed an article of clothing, she said "Off!"

Then you said it.

It's quite funny because each time you say it you drag out the "f" sounds. FFFFFFFFFFFFFF!

In other news, you also know two more hand signs.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this before butt we are teaching you "baby sign." We are doing this in hopes of being able to communicate with you while you are still developing your speech skills.

It didn't take you long to learn your first sign. "Milk." I'm not exactly sure when it happened but you learned it quite quickly.

Well, last week, you learned "more" as in "Dad, I want more grapes."

You also learned "water."

The next sign I'm trying to teach you is "bread." You tend to eat a lot of it so I figured "why not teach you how to ask for it?" We shall see.

Also. Your mom took this video of you playing the harmonica.

We've been trying to teach you how to play it for at least a few weeks. Tonight, you finally got it.

Sleep well, son.

Love you.

Dad.
